History of AMOD
AMOD is the oldest weekly newspaper of Bangladesh. It is being published from the district town Comilla since the 5th May 1955. Late Mohammed Fazle Rabbi, the founder editor used to manage the newspaper by himself with the assistance of his family members. AMOD is entirely non-political, neutral and dedicated to the cause of common people of the district Comilla and adjoining districts of Bangladesh.
In 1985 UNESCO has recognized AMOD as one of the successful Asian community newspaper, because of the services rendered by this newspaper to the society continuously for more then three decades. AMOD is a reliable source of information and a respected voice of the community.
AMOD continues to be the leading community newspaper in Comilla because it is a steady, reliable source of information & the mouthpiece for community opinion for the last 53 years.
AMOD initially started as sports Weekly on 5th May 1955. After three years of publication it turned in to a newspaper of general interest. In the beginning AMOD was a five-column tabloid size paper. In 1967 it was increased to standard size with eight columns.
Mohammed Fazle Rabbi the founder editor died of old age on 28th November 1994. Now his wife Mrs. Shamsun Nehar Rabbi is the editor of the newspaper while his only son Bakin Rabbi is the printer, publisher & the Editor-in-Charge of AMOD. |

Mrs. Shamsun Nehar Rabbi took the responsibility as editor of weekly AMOD in 1985. Before that she served AMOD as the news editor. She is also author of several books. In different occasion Mrs. Rabbi visited Middle East, West Europe & North America. As trainer she participated many training courses of journalism organized by Press Institute of Bangladesh & Bangladesh center for development journalism & communication. She is proud mother of one son & three daughters.

Editor-in-Charge: Bakin Rabbi
After completion of his study Bakin Rabbi joined at AMOD in the mid '80 as staff reporter cum photographer. He has inherited his profession journalism from his father Mohammed Fazle Rabbi the founder editor of the weekly AMOD. Bakin Rabbi was Comilla correspondent of the New Nation for four years since 1991. He obtains a diploma degree on community journalism & press photography from an institute of north France Lille. participated many photo contests and was awarded. Bakin Rabbi organized four solo photo exhibitions in different parts of Bangladesh including Dhaka. He visited France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Thailand & India for his professional purpose.

Mohammed Hasanul Alam is working with Amod since 1973. In early 2007 the managment has given him the charge of feature editor of the Amod. Beside writing features in Amod he is also contributing the national and regional dailies of Bangladesh. Hasanul Alam also served as a casual script writer and news caster of Radio Bangladesh.

Shahajada Emran started his journalism carrier in 1992 from weekly AMOD. Other then AMOD now he works in three other newspapers. Beside journalism he is attached with different social cultural organizations. About a year Shahajada published a monthly tabloid for school children named monthly Manon.

Mohiuddin Molla is a young chap-promising journalist of Comilla. He joined at AMOD in early 2005. Before joining AMOD he works in a weekly newspaper publish from Laksam, Comilla. Mohiuddin regularly writes articles, features & stories in the national daily newspapers. Common people of Bangladesh is main them of his story & features. Other then Amod he writes in a national daily newspaper and in a news agency.
